The Red Ribbon Express, Phase-III is a multi-media, multi-sectoral mass mobilization project for spreading awareness on HIV / AIDS and to promote safe behavioral practices. Given the success and the overwhelming response to the project, NACO is implementing third phase of the Red Ribbon Express project in collaboration with key partners. It is a national campaign through a train which was flagged off on 12th January, 2012 from Delhi on National Youth Day. The train carried exhibition on-board especially designed to appeal Young People including those who are not literate.
In its year long journey, it will cover 162 halt stations of 23 states. This time, the above train is reaching Odisha on 20th June, 2012 at Koraput Railway Station. It will halt at 10 stations of 9 districts i.e. Koraput, Kantabanji, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Cuttack, Berhampur, Khurda, & Balasore. The Red Ribbon Express (RRE) is running in your district as per the date & time mentioned in the routes of RRE which is incorporated in the short note on RRE. There are coaches on Basics of HIV/AIDS, Services available, Coaches on Counseling, Coaches on training, STI, NRHM, TB etc. The key objective of RRE project is to increase levels of accurate knowledge about HIV/AIDS, build an enabling environment to reduce stigma & discrimination & increase of utilization of health services.
Description of Coaches-:
RRE consists of eight coaches out of which four are Exhibition coaches, one coach is Auditorium cum Conference hall and one coach for Counseling cum Medical services and the rest two coaches are for sleeper, office and dining cum pantry. The train coach details are:-

Counseling cum Medical Services

Having six cabins - 4 counseling cabins and two doctors cabins for providing counseling and syndromic treatment for STI and RTI cases. There will be no HIV testing facility on board. However, provisions for referral services to the nearby ICTC and other care support services on HIV/AIDS will be ensured. SACS may organize counseling and testing facility at a suitable point near the platform
